so must a mix engineer meld disparate sounds to produce the ultimate mix. Mick
Guzauski is a true artist in the studio. His passion for music allows him to extract
just the right mood from a performance. His mixes capture every nuance a musician
exudes.
Mick's won Grammyg for his work with Eric Clapton on Eric's
Back Home and JJ Cale and Eric Clapton's
The Road To Escondido . Mick has five (5) Latin Grammys as well.
He's also won back-to-back TEC Awards for his mixes on Cream's Royal
Albert Hall: London 2-3-5-6 2005 and Eric Clapton's Crossroads
DVD.
Mick's just mixed several tracks for Rhydian and Il Divo's upcoming releases, the end title song, "Fly To Your Heart,"for the upcoming Disney DVD, Tinker Bell, Kristen Chenoweth's Christmas album and a PBS television special for David Foster. Mick mixed the previously-unreleased "For All Time" from Michael Jackson's best-selling 25th Anniversary of Thriller release.
Currently, Mick mixed several songs for Paul Potts' debut (Syco), Chris Mann's debut (Columbia) and Vanessa Williams' The Real Things (Concord Records) debut as well!
Mick just mixed Dame Shirley Bassey for the title song for the animated film Sir Billi.
Mick's mix of "Here I Am"
is on the #1 UK album, Spirit, by Leona Lewis. Mick also
mixed Michael McDonald's Soul Speak CD (Universal), Three
Graces' self-titled debut (Decca), Boyz II Men's Motown:
A Journey Through Hitsville, USA (Motown). Previously, he mixed Addicted
To Company Pt. 1 for Paddy Casey ( Sony).
Mick was honored
to have his mix of "So Close" from Disney's Enhanted
nominated for an Oscar as Song of the Year at the 2008 Academy Awards.
Mick remixed the entire catalog of jazz superstars Return To Forever
including the seminal albums Hymn Of The Seventh Galaxy, Where Have
I Known You Before, No Mystery and Romanic Warrior. The
jazz/fusion supergroup comprised of Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Al DiMeola and
Lenny White told Mick their music has "never sounded better!"
From 1975 to 1980, Mick worked for Chuck Mangione in both Los Angeles and
New York recording and mixing, among other albums, Chuck's multi-platinum-plus
landmark release Feels So Good.
Mick relocated to the sunshine
of Los Angeles in late '78. Some of his most noteworthy projects included recording
and mixing "That's What Friends Are For"with Dionne Warwick, Gladys
Knight and Stevie Wonder; recording and mixing Patti LaBelle
and Michael McDonald's "On My Own"; mixing Mr. Mister's monster
release, Welcome To The Real World, and mixing Boys II Men's back-to-back
#1 singles, "I'll Make Love To You" and "Water Runs Dry". He also worked quite
extensively with Earth, Wind and Fire, Quincy Jones, Burt Bacharach, Henry
Mancini, Johnny Mathis, Stanley Clarke, George Duke and Cher.
In 1994, Tommy Mottola, then head of SONY Music, moved Mick back to New York and
used him exclusively on artists such as Mariah Carey, Michael Bolton, Marc
Anthony and Jennifer Lopez among others. Soon afterward, Mick opened
his own studio, Barking Doctor Recording.
Just a short while back Mick
was in Los Angeles mixing Chick Corea's Live In Barcelona
(Concord) DVD in 5.1 surround sound. Previously, Mick mixed J.J. Cale and
Eric Clapton's critically-acclaimed new release, The Road To Escondido
(Warner Bros.) and radio singles for Ashley Tisdale (Warner Bros.),
Natasha Bedingfield (Sony/BMG) and Bianca Ryan (Sony/BMG) along with
Bette Midler's latest, Cool Yule (Columbia), and Kenny
G's I'm in the Mood For Love...The Most Romantic Melodies of All Time
(Arista).
Mick mixed Cream's long-awaited live reunion DVD
and CD--- Royal Albert Hall: London 2-3-5-6 2005. Mick also
mixed Latin superstar Ricardo Arjona's Latin Grammy-winning (Best Latin
Pop Album), platinum-plus release, Adentro (Sony BMG Norte).
Speaking of Clapton, Mick mixed Eric Clapton's last eight albums
including Back Home (Warner Bros.) and Me and Mr. Johnson
(Warner Bros.) as well as the last three Michael McDonald albums including
the multi-platinum Motown homages, Motown and Motown
Two (Universal).
All told, Mick has mixed #1 Singles and
Platinum albums for artists such as Leann Rimes, Eric Clapton, Boyz II Men,
Madonna and Mariah Carey. He enjoys a uniquely-strong reputation with
all his clients forged on his love for his craft and his consistently-great mixes.
Additionally, Mick has remixed six albums for Eric Clapton in
5.1 surround: 461 Ocean Blvd., Layla, Riding With The King, One More Car,
One More Ride, Crossroads Guitar Festival and Live At Hyde
