Experience and Expertise. You can have one but not necessarily the other. It's rare that you find both. In our business, it's what makes the distinct difference between the brilliant mixes you'll hear on Grammy-winning superstar Robin Thicke's latest release, Sex Therapy: The Sessions (Star Trak/Interscope) and his previous two albums, the multi-platinum smash efforts, Something Else and the magical sophomore release, The Evolution of Robin Thicke. Rich has also mixed the track, "Giving Myself" from Grammy and Academy Award-winning actress/singer Jennifer Hudson from her eponymous debut release: Jennifer Hudson (Arista).
Rich Travali, who's been mixing for the likes of the aforementioned Robin Thicke and Jennifer Hudson as well as the latest releases by Gwen Stefani, The Sweet Escape (Interscope) and Pharrell Williams' In My Mind (Star Trak/Interscope), delivers both experience and expertise each time he sits behind his board.
Rich delivers experience and expertise for such legendary artists as Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Nelly, 50 Cent, The Notorious B.I.G., Lil' Kim, Faith Evans, Nas, Destiny's Child, Christina Aguilera, R. Kelly and Brian McKnight.
Rich just finished mixing three singles from Missy Modell's upcomig EP.
Rich completed mixing Robin Thicke's upcoming Interscope release, Sex Therapy: The Sessions. This album debuted at #9 on the BILLBOARD album charts. This is the third album in a row Rich is mixing for Robin. "Sex Therapy" is the first single off Robin's upcoming Interscope release and in early March 2010 hit #1 on BILLBOARD Hip Hop/R and B charts!
Rich mixed the single, "Changing The Weather," from Sony Canada's Crash Parallel and two singles with Toni Braxton for Atlantic.
Over the past dozen years, Rich has mixed over a dozen #1 Billboard singles including Nelly and Kelly Rowland's "Dilemma", Nelly's "Hot in Herre" and "Country Grammar", Will Smith's "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It", Notorious B.I.G.'s "Big Poppa", Nas' "Hate Me Now (feat. Puff Daddy)" and Destiny Child's "Independent Women". He's also been credited with mixing the incredible releases by Brooklyn's own hip-hop master LL Cool J---Mr. Smith (Def Jam) featuring the smash single, "Hey Lover (feat. Boyz II Men)" and Phenomenon (Def Jam)---as well as rapper Foxy Brown's debut CD, Ill Na Na (Def Jam) which included the Travali-mixed blazing-hot single, "Ill Na Na (feat. Dru Hill)".
Hip Hop and R & B may dominate the legacy of Rich Travali, yet in addition to Robin Thicke and Jennifer Hudson he's also mixed top Pop releases by Britney Spears, N'Sync, 98 Degrees, Vanessa Williams and Jennifer Love Hewitt as well as the first country/hip hop fusion track, "Over and Over," featuring Nelly and Tim McGraw.
Additionally, Rich has 4 Grammy nominations along with his Emmy nomination for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety or Music Series or Special, Paul Simon's Concert In Central Park.
Rich works out of his private mix facility, Dockside Studios, located on the Jersey shore.
