Vic Florencia - Engineer/Mixer | ||
|
Vic had his first taste of greatness working with his first major project: Nelly Furtado's Whoa, Nelly! If you'll recall, that was her massive major label success! Vic was a client of MetalWorks Studios in Mississauga when the studio manager called him to 'fill in' and record a track for Ms. Furtado entitled "My Love Grows Deeper, Part 1" . Vic was working with both Sass Jordan and Tom Cochran at the time, yet understood how important Nelly was. Vic's focus has always been getting meticulous sounds for all of the artists he's had the joy of working with and he's well-known for just that. Additionally, Vic's been exploding as a mix engineer. Vic won his first JUNO Award, Canada's version of our 'Grammy" Award, in 2006 for Best Engineer of the Year on Esthero's critically-acclaimed Wikked Lil' Grrrls CD. Vic recorded and mixed the Wikked Lil' Grrrls. In 2008, Vic's mixed a live DVD for Thriving Ivory (WindUp), Eric Durrance (WindUp), Lindsay Robbins' " Invisible", Olivia Newton-John and Cliff Richard's "Find A Little Faith" and Danko Jones' singles "Sugar Hi" and "Go Go". Previously, Vic mixed a duet between Billy Ray Cyrus and his daughter, Miley Cyrus, called "I Learned From You". Miley Cyrus is better known as Hannah Montana in the Disney show of the same name. The most critically-acclaimed (and profitable) work of young Vic's career remains his mixes of three (3) singles on the 4-million selling-album , High School Musical (Disney), including the singles "We're All In This Together," "Start Of Something New" and "I Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You". High School Musical is over the 4mm mark in the States! Vic mixed Hayden Panettiere's "I Still Believe" for the end title of Shanghai Kiss (USA) and a rock remix of Mobile's "Out Of My Head" (Universal). Vic's also recorded and mixed Olivia Newton-John's forthcoming album entitled Grace and Gratitude. Vic mixed a single for Peter Elkas called "Fall Apart Again" (MapleMusic) and a radio single, "Movies of Antarctica," for Stars of Track and Field (Wind Up). Additionally, he mixed four (4) tracks for Jordan McCoy's debut on P. Diddy's Bad Boy Records and mixed the The Cheetah Girls' single, "If I Ever Knew You" for Matthew Gerard and Kinnie Starr for Maplemusic all at his studio, Concrete Jungle. Additionally, he's just completed mixing Stephen Moccio's instrumental record. Vic recorded and mixed Esthero's second album, Wikked Lil' Grrrls (Reprise), several tracks on Esthero's EP We R In Need Of A Musical Revolution (Reprise) including the jubilant Burt Bacharachesque "Everyday Is A Holiday (For You)"(featuring Sean Lennon), Caleigh Peter's debut (Hollywood Records) and Sara Paxton's ("Aquamarine") soon-to-be-released debut CD. Vic enjoys a strong working relationship with renowned producer/songwriter Matthew Gerrard (Kelly Clarkson, Delta Goodrum, Hilary Duff, Jesse McCartney) traveling to and fro California from his home in Toronto to mix Matthew's impeccable songs. One of Canada's premier rock bands, Danko Jones, enjoys a familial relationship with Vic. He's mixed their past 3 albums including the platinum-plus Born A Lion (Razor and Tie/Bad Taste). Vic mainly works out of his own studio, Concrete Jungle, as well as Phase One and MetalWorks studios in his hometown of Toronto. |
